 I got to see and hold little Ashton while I was visiting the Nygrens in New Mexico.  I am posting so you all can see the little guy. 

 

Anniversary--for complete cabin trip, start blog at cabin time 2012 down several

 We are celebrating our 38th anniversary on this ride.  A rare thing to be riding all alone.  We did a 4 1/2 hour loop up the Lionhead trail and around and out at Alice's.  It was Gorgeous country.  Here, we are stopped for a drink out of our favorite spring just before the meadow.

 A whole new look on the other side of the mountain.  We saw a mountain goat up to the right, the first we have ever seen up there, but the picture didn't turn out very good.  It was way up on  the mountain.

 Aspen and Halli saw us coming home and ran out to meet us so we popped them on the back, pajamas and all.  Check out this beautiful hair almost touching the horse.

 

kids ride

 This ride was devoted to the children and the Lawsons.  We had 12 horses and kids on the backs of four of them, and kids riding 3 of them alone, and it was TOOOOO wild to be fun for me.  We went up the mountain and after Zatarro and Dart tried to take Halli and Cannon home, we decided to take the bridles off and trail those two horses and head back home while we were all smiling and safe.  Good memory for the kids, good lesson for me.  Never let yourself be outnumbered by nauvice riders and children. 

 

 

 

"Buffy" our new friend!

 This buffalo came up the driveway, jumped over the fence and gave us and the horses quite the excitement.  It was pretty intense because the horses were VERY agitated and we worrie that they might run through the fence if he came any closer.  They ran from corner to corner and we could believe how gorgeous they looked while trying to stay away from the buffalo.

 

 He busted through Gregg and Helen's fence and took it down.

 

 We were all watching from the deck (except Randy and Levi who were trying to help the poor guy find his way out of the field)  Now THAT was nerve wracking!  Levi ran around him and up to the gate at the top to open it.  Randy was in the pickup watching with his gun ready.

 

 

 and Helen was down below trying to get her horses into the holding pen so they wouldn't run through the fence in fear since the buffalo was in with them.

 He finally got out after about 3 hours.  VERY entertaining!

Beach time

 Susan and her family came up and enjoyed the beach with us one day.  What fun!  I can't believe I don't have any more pictures of all the beach times and hiking and biking and exercising we did during this week at the cabin (after the formal reunion with all the kids and the trip to New Mexico, we came back to enjoy a few more days with Katie (who had stayed while we were in NM) and Camille (who had stayed while her new house in Wise River, Montana was being made ready and Paul was working his new job there), and Mary and her kids who just stayed for fun.

 Mary swam every day in our wonderful Hebgen.  I did, too, but it was  more like treading water and talking with anyone who jumped in with me.  Where did she learn how to swim!

 We took the kids for an outing one day and saw the most AMAZING ruins!  We are walking up to see a look out area

 Fun to look in the telescope but Dad's camera is better for seeing the sights. Brooklyn was so amazing how she helped with EVERYTHIGNG we did.  She even directed us out of town so we would get lost.  She has an uncanny sense of direction for a young girl.  She knew the schedules of everyone, what to feed the baby.  She applied the sunscreen on all the kids, etc. etc. etc.  Thank you Brooklyn!  for making our stay so easy!

 The pack was hard on Dad's sunburn (yes, from the pool) so he carried Kreighton on this stop.

 

Gallup house

 When Brinn finished painting and came home, Michelle took the children with her to St. George and we moved as much as we could to the new house and helped set up the beds, blinds, etc.  Each room has BIG closets.  This is the guest room before the bed was set up.  It is downstairs and very secluded with a bathroom across the hall.  Great accomodations!
