Granery Springs

We took our favorite ride of the year with Gregg and Helen, Joshua and Christian, Michael and Brinn (she didn't ride, but had a great time in camp with us!), and Jathan's brother, Koda.

We are in the San Rafel Swell, camping at Granery Springs, and riding to Cowboy caves and the Grand Mural (though we didn't take the camera to the mural since it was very bad weather with high winds..............but no, it did NOT dampen our spirits!)

I am so sad your dad didn't take pictures of our tent. He got me a new tent this year and fixed it up like the Marriot Hotel. No, MUCH better than that! We have so much fun camping together. And Gregg always bring a kitchen camp tent which makes the bad weather a non issue. We enjoyed one night where we could see the sky without clouds and enjoyed a full moon, a campfire, and a shower/sauna that Gregg has rigged for our comfort and enjoyment. Awe................life is so good!

Cowboy Cave

Best friends forever! (do I sound like a little girl? I feel like one on these rides!)

It's so much fun to share the experience with those we love! I don't know why we didn't get pictures at camp where Brinn was. She came along and it was a blast having her! She is quite the trooper! She hiked and read and cooked and just really had a good time in her little 7 1/2 month pregnant body.

This is quite the amazing cave.

I like this picture of Michael and Helen. She is one of the special women in his life.

Our Camera Man

Yes, he was really on the ride. I had to take the camera from him to prove he was there! Opie did amazingly well at sticking with us and keeping up the pace. I wondered if he would get too tired, but NO, he was loving life!

I REALLY like this cowboy!

....and his son! (do you see Dad on his tip toes?)

So much fun riding with these awesome guys! Jathan's brother, Koda (sorry if i spelled that wrong!) came and rode one of Joshua's horses. It was really fun to get to know him. We love riding with Joshua and Christian! They are so much fun. Helen and I just loved hearing our boys laugh and have such a relaxed time. We all felt pretty safe since they all carried guns!

A stop for sight seeing

You gotta love this terrain and all the wonderful rock formations!

Thanks, Carlianne, for letting Dad use your horse again! He just might want to keep her! She is so smooth and willing, not to mention, pretty. Here, she hasn't let go of her white winter coat yet, though. Her golden color is forthcoming. IF the weather would warm up!!! It was actually very cold even there in Southern Utah.

I did get to take off my coat at one point. Do you see happiness and contentment all over my face? These rides are like the Balm of Gilead to me.

This is a run off that is great to look out over, but it gives me butterflies in the extreme to have anyone near the edge. The boys are always bending over the edge to get a reaction out of me and Helen, so we usually look quickly and get out of the area so they all don't have to show off and make us sick. Opie ran up to the edge so fast that he even scared the guys! He could have gone right off!

On our way to Cowboy caves

I think these are fun shots of us winding our way through the sand. We always just pick our way down into and up out of canyons. Sometimes it is quite exciting looking for the safest route. There were 8 of us. As always, we depend on Gregg and his GPS to get us to our destination. (Helen and I sometimes find our own way down some spots that make us nervous. Gregg and the guys will go down ANYTHING!)

It was so much fun having Michael join us! Stormy did a great job carrying him. He got pretty wet with sweat as you can see. All the horses did that, but you could see it better on Stormy.

Michael loved his willing and energetic attitude.

The Corral

We figured this corral was about 100 years old. We love to go see it and imagine building it and rounding up the cattle into it.
These are our favorite riding partners in the world! How we love these rides with Gregg and Helen!

We came over a rise and saw these cute little guys up close! Very unusual to get this close.
