Another Great Day on the Horses

Helen, Christian and Hannah came up to ride with us this weekend. We had such a great ride again in the Wolverine Canyon. Lin was our guide. We are taking advantage of every good weather day! We KNOW what is coming!

We saw the cutest sight! All these domestic goats had gotten out of their pasture and were playing on the rocks and watching us go by.

Randy wouldn't give up the camera so he is not in any of the pictures, but it was SO much fun that he took the afternoon off work and came with us!

Harvest

I just posted this for those of you who think all I do is play :)
We have been blessed with a marvelous harvest! Our garden produced more than ever before and we have had such wonderful meals! I hate to have to bring the produce in. It never tastes as good as right out of the garden. I should have taken pictures of the kids picking apples off the trees at Aunt Rayola's. They were SO darling when they discovered "red ones in the top of the tree that are as red as tomatoes!!!" (they are the ones that made the pink applesauce you see in the bottles) And it would have been fun to show how ecstatic they were about the plums that were just falling out of the tree. Purple ones (in the bottles) and yellow ones (eaten all up!) Spencers gave us boxes of the most delicious pears I have had this season. Small and sweet and organic. :)
We feel SO blessed!

Wolverine ride

My friend Lin Longhurst took Randy and me on a great ride up the Wolverine Canyon on Saturday. It was absolutely gorgeous! This is a cabin that was the homestead for the Stolworthy family (who own most of the property up there). What a delightful place!

before entering the canyon. This made Randy homesick. It is really close to the Wolverine Ranch that his family owned when he was in High School. It was his favorite place to live and his dad sold it while he was on his mission.

The color was at its peak. I think because it is so protected from the wind, it is behind other places where the leaves are now off the trees.

Gaterhing wood for winter

Dad and I wondered how we were going to get wood without Mason this year. Well, Carlianne and Blake called and said they were coming with a truck and a saw and a lunch! What a blessing they were. We had such a fun outing up north. We were on the Madison Arm road where there had been a burn out years ago. Easy wood. We did end up pretty black, though, from the burn.Clara and Esther were happy as long as they could watch what we were doing. We just moved them higher and higher on the log pile in Blake's truck. Carlianne and I loaded most of that truck :) while the men cut.

Blake does everything with full purpose. no wasting time with that guy! Isn't this a pretty place to get wood? the mountains and the lake behind us. Amazingly warm for October up there. I only wished we could have taken the horses for a little ride afterwards. :)

WE took Halli and Aspen with us to New Mexico for Brooklyn's baptism. What a fun time we all had!

Michael got this "bear killer" before he went on an Elk hunt with black powder guns. He had learned that they were going to be hunting in bear territory and we have all been humbled by Paul's experience, so he is going prepared with a big gun and buddies to hunt with.

I love to see the men do "men" things and let the cares of the world go for a few hours. (makes me feel kind of secure, too)

I pushed the wrong button and blogged this before I was ready. We went out and shot guns with Michael while there in Farmington for Brooklyn's baptism.

On the Farm

Clara likes to go out and help Carlianne with the chores. We were there for the evening and just got a kick out of her little matching Carhart coat and her little pink bucket she carries out to milk.

What a happy existence this little one has!

The other day, I was watching Clara while Carlianne and Blake went to the temple and I found her singing, playing and REALLY watching the music as she turned pages and sang new songs. So Cute!
