Date night with the Siblings

We did our date night up in Swan Valley the week before Thanksgiving. Shelly and Stafford are incredible hosts! We had such a wonderful meal prepared by them. Several courses and such a relaxing, fun time. Then we watched "Amazing Grace". Good movie. We missed Cathie and Jud. Cathie was with Elisabeth and little Hattie and we couldn't talk Jud into coming alone.

Fall Fun in Idaho

I think our Idaho sunsets are unparalled! Though I'm sad that there are houses in the way now.
It was cold but nice this day so we asked Dad if he wanted to ride and he did. He hasn't been feeling too much like it lately so this was nice. He's so amazing to do it at all at 88! I'm sure I will cherish this picture! After 50 years, I'm still riding with my Dad.

Another shot of Grandpa on Zataro.

This is Dad's answer to houses in our sunsets! This may look like a wasteland to the untrained eye, but it is your Dad's dream to build a home and playground for his grandkids here.

Damian

These toys saved us many times. Otherwise, he wanted to make things with scissors, glue, tape, paint, crayons, honey,....you get my drift. He is so clever with these toys. This is a tractor, if you can see the wheels and bucket. I can't believe I didn't take any more pictures of their visit or of Thanksgiving! I must have had too much on my mind!

"tagged" continued

3. This is a wierd one, when I was young, I thought that hairy arms on women were pretty! And I liked it when the frost settled on my fuzzy face! Sorry, girls for passing on the hairiness.:)
4. I'm glad I have grown out of the passing out at the sight of blood faze. Otherwise, I would have shamed my children when they got hurt because my bladder lets go when I pass out! When I was 15 years old and had a crush on Stafford's best friend, I accompanied Staff to the Doctor to drive him home after minor toe surgery. Well, he took his friend so I just waited in the car and when they came out and got in the car and told me about the surgery, I passed out (while sitting between them on leather seats). When they went in the house they were musing about how they got their britches wet! I didn't ever answer that riddle to Staff until after I was married!
5. When Randy and I met, we were so excited that we were so much alike. We both loved Indian History and turquoise jewelry! So, we fell in love and got married!
OK, maybe there was more but we had no idea how our unknown strengths were what we really needed for a happy marriage. I'm so glad Heavenly Father knew! I met him just a few weeks after I turned 18. How mature could I have been?!

I've been tagged!

It is hard to come up with stuff that isn't already old news!

1. This probably comes as no surprise to anyone, but had I not had the chance for marriage, I would have gone to vet school. My love of animals started way young. I remember sitting on the fences at the cabin when I was really small (probably 4 or 5) and just listening to the horses eat the dew filled grass. I remember getting up with the sun and sitting there listening also to the sounds of the birds and being there until the family called me in for breakfast. What a blessing it has been in my life, to have been married to someone who has provided a way for me to put my passion for animals into real live animals. He has been so patient with all the mess, expense, etc. that animals are.
2. As a youth, I couldn't sit still long enough to read so I assumed I hated to read! When I started reading every night to my young children, and as we went through the Little House and Little Britches series, I developed a love of good literature. I have often wondered if reading those sweet books to my children as they grew up set the pattern for them to be "different" (as the school teachers always said) from other children in a happy way. I hope all my grandchildren will get read to out of those same books and more! It's worth the sacrifice!

No place like home!

There's nothing so beautiful as Idaho in the Fall........on a horse!

Mexico

These rugs were amazing! The man that creates these is called the "Rembrandt of Rugs". I wanted more money and especially more room to take things back when I got to the rug and the famous pottery shops! Me with Donna Picket overlooking the city. The live volcano, Popocatepitl. Amazing.

more Mexico

The structures were so amazing! And so much of the scenery as we drove through was so beautiful. There were fields of flowers everywhere. These are marigolds. The Pickets are having fun by a pillar. We had lots of fun with them!

Meixo ruins

typical sites. Randy is in front of an old cathedral. We were not allowed to take pictures inside, but it was VERY ornate! Kris Gordan and I are at the top of a pyrimid, freezing if you can imagine! She is wearing Carliannes's Softball jacket that I brought.

Mexico

This is about an hour before we got hurricane conditions on the gulf. I WAS going to swim in there! A group of my new girlfriends. The flowers were gorgeous all through the country. You would see such poverty and filth in some of these little communities and there would be unbelieveably bright and full bushes, maybe to show them God's love afterall....
Eating together with friends. Gordons, Woolstenhulmes, and Jones's (Pres. Walker's daughter and tour guide husband.)

Mexico

The first three pictures are kind of hard to see because we were never there until it was almost dark and we left in the dark in the morning. It was our favorite spot, though, and we stayed two nights. We each had our own "bungalo". Each had a porch with two rocking chairs, like you see Pres. and Sister Walker on. The swimming pool was just awesome, made up entirely of rocks. It was jungle and we heard "holler monkeys" at night. They sounded more like jaguars might sound. We sat on the porch and listened to them and watched fireflies. The last picture is the most common dwelling we saw as we drove through the country. Quite a difference!
